I SAW FLOWERS GROWING FROM A CHAIR
PARSONS PARIS BFA THESIS, CGI SHORT FILM, VIDEO INSTALLATION, 2024
I saw flowers growing from a chair examines the ongoing creative output in art and design through world-building, furniture design, and fashion. It responds to the Anthropocene era’s impact, exploring themes of time, space, fossilization, and decay. The metaphor of the flower acts as a symbol of resistance as objects and entities merge with environments as nature reclaims its way back. The mirror accentuates the duality of this relationship, primarily perceived through indirect means and distorted through screen surfaces.
Art Direction & CGI: Demir Ramazanov.
Composer and Vocals: Maël Lorand.
Sound Design: Justine Schwaab.
Styling and Production Assistant: Fionna McDonnell.
Talents: Mikaela Brennan and Jaewon Lee.
Instructors: Bridget O’Rourke, Evan Roth, Clarisse Labro, and Stephanie Nadalo.
